A CCCS teacher, Marisela Osorio, writes, “One day I was organizing a Bible study when a girl named Martha came to see me. She was 10 years old, desperate, frightened and in whose pretty eyes were great tears of suffering. She asked, ’Teacher, why doesn’t God let all of us children be happy and have the love of their parents?’ Her father abandoned her soon after she was born and her mother went to another country. I asked Martha if she knew Christ; she told me she didn’t because she had only worked, selling sweets in the streets in order to feed herself and provide for her younger siblings. After that, I paid attention to her and we talked about the love of God and that Jesus was what she needed to fill her emptiness. I read her Psalm 27; she liked it so much she memorized it. After several encounters, one glorious day she told me, ’ I’m thankful to God for allowing me to suffer because that was the only way I would know Christ as my only and true Savior.’ Her life has changed. She is no longer the anxious, lonely and desperate child, but a child full of love. Now she enjoys the benefits of the program, to know our God of love and mercy and to move ahead with her studies.
Thank you dear members of CCCS for the help that you bring with this beautiful program for the children of our suffering country. Blessings on all of you.”
In the community of Israel, the scholarship students attend public school in the morning and host classes in the church in the afternoon led by Deaconess Angelica Maria Martinez. They receive tutoring in Spanish and math and are taught Bible stories, the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer and Bible truths. Deaconess Angelica writes, “The Lord has changed my life and now I know that Jesus died for me and for the entire world to forgive my sins. He has given me the chance to demonstrate His love with the children. When I see the children smile I can see the love of God in their eyes. Thank you CCCS for sharing the love of God and His gift of salvation and eternal life with these little ones.”
