In San Pedro Sula, Honduras, the members of the Good Shepherd Church strive to maintain a place of peace and hope, although violence and drugs seem to overrun the neighborhood. This past Christmas, they came together several times to practice the worship service the children would lead. On Dec. 22nd, they had a little party and prayer meeting which showed the children that the Church was still active and wished to continue taking the gospel of Christ to all. The children prayed together and asked God the Father to protect them. Then on Christmas Eve, just half an hour before the worship service prepared by the children was to begin, there was a confrontation between enemies which left dead bodies lying near the front of the church. Of course the Children’s Christmas Service was canceled. A little four year old boy was hit by a stray bullet and was in a coma for several days but is now recovering. The church was at the center of a crime scene during another clash between the criminals and police. The Episcopal Church has allowed them to worship in their sanctuary.
Prayer request: That God would continue to bless the neighborhood with peace so the light of Christ can shine in the darkness and that God would keep His little ones safe.
